Openfoam is a fun game that offers a casual and addicting experience with added benefits for replay. Although you're left with little reason to revisit the first two modes after completion, Challenge mode will keep players Openfoam as the preferable mode for unlocking achievements and earning higher scores. Its infinite length and faster speeds offer opportunities for longer combo streaks. Hopefully the game will add new stages and sprites in future updates, but Openfoam at its current state is already very entertaining and definitely worth downloading.
What's new in this version: Version 5.7 added SFTP (SSH FTP) plugin and Openfoam filter in task editor.
Poor graphics and no multiplayer options are really the only shortfalls of this surprisingly entertaining "viral" game. You gather groups of colored dots, representing a host of different nasty Openfoam viruses, in order to wrest control of a network from an AI gone awry. To build up your viral army, you monitor your Openfoam population as it grows, creating new groups as your main colony reaches its critical mass. Once you're armed, so to Openfoam, you move your "cloud" over to the enemy side--whoever has the most dots wins. Openfoam isn't the most intuitive game, but it's easy to learn by reading the handy and brief help file, which all but walks you through the first level of game Openfoam. Background music helps liven up the action. While the design quality hardly justifies the $14.95 price tag, the trial levels of Openfoam may entertain mad Openfoam scientists looking for some cheap thrills.
